Kamil Janowski

My Board Role: I am the Treasurer of the 10th Nexus Student Association Board. However, I don’t want to be just a good Treasurer but also great support for my fellow Board members.

 

About Me: I’m from Poland – just Poland; that’s boring I know.

 

Favourite TV Show: Game of Thrones. Why? In my opinion, it is the best series ever due to lot of attention paid to details. Moreover, a lot of money was devoted to the production and it is visible in almost every character or plot.

 

Favourite Animal: I love dogs; these are the most amazing and friendly animals ever.

 

Future Plans: Due to the fact that I’m still in year 1, I need to focus on our program first then exchange, and my LLM is in the end.

 

Why Do A Board Year? I decided to apply for this position because I saw the involvement that the previous board had and I saw that such work is a prelude to the most valuable thing in the world – great friendship.

 

Goal: Improving the Dutch Support Committee, notes sales and cooperation with other associations.

 

 

 

Adelina-Madalina Nicolai

About me: Yes, I have two names. I guess this is what my parents think a compromise looks like. I am the Coordinator of Internal Affairs for the new Board, and I am from the Republic of Moldova.

 

 

Favourite TV Show: I am currently obsessed with The Handmaid's Tale. The plot is immensely relevant and insightful to the current social and political context. It's frightening and disturbingly reminiscent of reality – definitely worth watching. Also, Margaret Atwood is involved in the filming process, hence the TV show remains faithful to the original book. Please watch it!

 

Favorite Colour: Blue... for no particular reason.

 

Future Plans: When I grow up  (hehehe), I aim to enter the field of International Criminal Law, with a focus on counter-terrorism strategies.

 

Why A Board Year? Looking at how close and committed the past Board members have proven to be to each other, and to Nexus, made me crave the same kind of experience: long- lasting friendships and fulfilling work! Besides that, having been part of the Educational Committee for the past year made me aware of how Nexus operates and its values. Hence, becoming part of the board seemed as a logical next step for me! 

 

Goal: I aim to enrich the social and academic life of Law students in Groningen and make their life here a rewarding experience! 

 

 

 

Isabelle Marianne Nuri Dahl

About Me: I am the President of the Board. I am from Australia.

 

Favourite Food: I would have to say Phad Thai. Almost any Thai food is a win with me. It’s just such a good combination of salty, spicy, sour and sweet.

 

Favourite Type of Music: I’m quite into strong female musicians like Lauryn Hill, Erykah Badu, Björk etc.

 

Future Plans: I find European Law, Public Law as well as Technology Law, really interesting! Whatever I end up choosing, I definitely want to end up in an international job though.

 

Why A Board Year? I was really involved with Nexus this year and liked it a lot. So, for the upcoming year, I wanted to have an active part in shaping its future.

 

Goal: To make Nexus and even bigger and better association. To me, this involves changing the culture of Nexus, so it really becomes an association where everyone gets to know each other well and where everyone is proud to be a part of Nexus.

 

 

 

Carolina Cassandra Harrison 

About Me: I am the Secretary for this year’s Board. I am half Polish and half English.

 

Favourite Animal: Penguin.

 

Favourite Place Visited: Canada. It was my first trip with friends and without parents.

 

Future Plans: I would like to pursue an LLM in private or international law and hopefully have a career in one of those fields.
 

Why A Board Year? I think that an extra challenge will be useful and, sneakily, this will look great on my CV!
 

Goal: Improve communication between everyone and make the most out of the year!

 

 

 

Federica Fermani 

Board Role: I am the External Affairs Coordinator. 

 

About Me: I was born and raised in Italy.

 

Favorite TV Show: Grey's Anatomy. I grew up with the show and when I was a kid, I wanted to be a doctor. Now, I just watch it for all the drama.

 

Favorite Place Visited: Vancouver, Washington (USA) - I was an exchange student there during high school and it simply felt like home from the moment I arrived. I've been to quite a few places, but I never got the same feeling as with Vancouver. 

 

Favorite Type of Music: I like any kind of music really, mostly pop music. Despite being a terrible singer, I love being able to sing along and dance to the music. 

 

Future Plans: I'm not sure yet what I'd like to do for my LLM, but career-wise, I would like to work for the United Nations or other big international organizations in general. 

 

Why A Board Year? I wanted to do something next to my studies, something both fun and that would help me develop as a person.

 

Goal: Continuing my predecessors' job in making Nexus a big family where people can get together for both social and academic events.
